what is emp*?
This easy-to-use practice management software includes all of the usual functions such as scheduling appointments, storing records, and billing. It also handles electronic insurance claims and outputs a myriad of reports. If you’re already using MediMac® or DentalMac® you can look forward to a smooth transition — you can import your existing patient demographics, and little or no training is required to get your office up and running.
For the imminent Mac OS X Leopard release, Edge is making innovative partnerships to take full advantage of the exceptional capabilities intrinsic to Mac OS X. This has resulted in some extraordinary new features.
Most notably, Edge has seamlessly integrated Mage Software’s proprietary InkBook™ engine to drive the new Edge Clinical ChartBook™ feature. When the software is installed on an Axiotron ModBook™ or a Mac with a Wacom Cintiq® tablet, you can annotate X-rays and photos with hand-written notes — the software will interpret the notes and store the translated text with the images. The real benefit to this is that all your hand-written text annotations are then searchable using the Mac OS X Spotlight feature, since the Spotlight technology is integrated into emp*.
Edge has also integrated Calgary Scientific’s ResolutionMD™ product. Now DICOM image sets such as MRIs can be reviewed and stored along with patient clinical records, and they can be viewed in 2D or 3D. These images can also be imported into the Clinical Chartbook to utilize the handwriting recognition and search features.
The elegant scheduling capabilities included with earlier releases of the product are equally enhanced in the Leopard release. The successful integration of TreAura call confirmation technology means that patients can be sent reminders for pending appointments automatically via email, home phone or cell phone.
